Files currently at the corridors of justice have disclosed to the public disturbing WhatsApp message that Nandi politician Shadrack Maritim allegedly received from National Police Service Commission, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Peter Leley, months before he mysteriously went missing out of the public eyesight since October, 27th, 2025.
According to an affidavit filed by Maritim's family, their kin had an unresolved political conflict with Peter Leley, that started late last year and continued to escalate until it went overboard in October.
Maritim's family alleged through the affidavit that even before their kin went missing, he had received several warnings from Leley, through messages and phonecalls.
As per the affidavit, through one of the text messages on WhatsApp, Leley had threatened Maritim that he would deal with him squarely as a way of resolving their feud.
"I will show you haujui!" was allegedly the first warning that Peter Leley had sent to Maritim.
Through the same affidavit, the family also indicated that late last year, Peter Leley had called Shadrack Maritim severally to deliver his warnings, and in one of the phonecalls, Leley allegedly vowed to "deal" with Maritim and that left him living in fear.
As a result, May this year, Mr. Maritim was forced to seek legal protection from police officers, after he officially wrote a statement that he was being threatened by Peter Leley.
However, on October 27th, 2025, Shadrack Maritim who is reportedly aspiring to vie for Tinderet constituency Parliamentary seat mysteriously went missing, before he was found alive in Mbale, Uganda, on Wednesday, December 3rd, 2025.
In regards to the matter, Peter Leley has refuted the claims by Shadrack Maritim's family and has since maintained that Maritim staged the abduction, so as he could gain politically, while eyeing the MP seat in 2027.
