The disturbing incident, which has sparked outrage across the community, unfolded after vigilant neighbours responded to unusual noises coming from the elderly woman’s home late at night.
According to police reports, the suspect was caught red-handed inside the victim’s house, engaging in what he initially attempted to describe as a “consensual encounter.”
However, investigations quickly revealed that the elderly woman, who lives alone and suffers from health complications, was unable to consent due to her age and vulnerability.
Medical examinations confirmed that she had been subjected to force, leading authorities to classify the act as rape.
The suspect, identified as a man in his 40s, was immediately taken into custody. During the court proceedings at the Naivasha Law Courts, he maintained his innocence, claiming that the encounter was mutual.
The magistrate dismissed his defence, noting that the victim’s frailty and inability to resist made her a protected person under the law.
In delivering the 20-year sentence, the court emphasized the seriousness of sexual offences against elderly citizens, describing the act as “a grave violation of dignity and humanity.”
The ruling was welcomed by many locals, who expressed relief that justice had been delivered swiftly.
Community elders and local leaders condemned the incident, urging residents to remain vigilant and protect vulnerable members of society.
