Revealed: Why Raila Odinga’s Sister Beryl Missed His Funeral Before Her Own Death

Raila Odinga’s sister, Beryl Achieng, passed away a month after the former prime minister died in India. 

The news of her death was shared by their sister, Ruth Odinga, who described Beryl as someone who “died in Christ.”

Beryl Achieng’s passing comes shortly after Raila Odinga’s funeral, which she missed. 

Her absence had raised questions among the public, as many wondered why the politician’s sister and her daughters were not present to pay their last respects.

Ruth Odinga expressed her grief on social media, announcing Beryl’s death while acknowledging it as God’s will. 

She highlighted Beryl’s role as a loving mother to her children, Ami Auma, Chizi, and Taurai, emphasizing the immense void her passing leaves.

Beryl’s youngest son, Taurai, represented her at Raila Odinga’s funeral and delivered her eulogy. 

Their eldest brother, Siaya Senator Oburu Oginga, explained that Beryl could not attend because she was unwell and receiving medical treatment outside the country.

Oburu clarified that Beryl’s health had prevented her from traveling for her brother’s funeral. 

“Achieng is not able to come because she is a bit indisposed; she is bringing her eldest son, Taurai,” he stated while introducing Taurai at the ceremony.

The family’s revelation offered closure to questions about her absence. Many Kenyans had expressed curiosity and concern over why a prominent family member had been missing during such a significant public event.

Social media users shared messages of condolence, mourning Beryl Achieng’s death just days after the nation had mourned Raila Odinga.
