President William Ruto has taken a swipe at the United Opposition, blaming their strategy for what he termed a sweeping defeat in all Parliamentary seats during yesterday’s by-elections.
Addressing the public during the launch of the Nairobi–Nakuru Summit and the Nairobi–Maai Mahiu–Naivasha PPP project on November 28, Ruto urged political leaders to abandon “empty rhetoric” and refocus on development.
He dismissed the “Wamtam and Ruto Must Go” chants as hollow slogans incapable of transforming Kenya into a first-world nation.
The President thanked voters across the country, saying they had sent a resounding message against his former DP Rigathi Gachagua and Wiper boss Kalonzo Musyoka.
When he posed to ask locals whether they would elect the opposition come 2027, the crowd erupted in a firm “Hapana! Hapana!” signalling their rejection of opposition leadership.
Ruto went on to reassure Mt. Kenya residents of his unwavering commitment to the region, reminding them of their steadfast support during the 2022 General Election.
Ruto further announced that 15,000 jobs will be created for Kenyan youths during the construction of the Nairobi–Nakuru–Mau Summit Road, a project he said will not only modernize the region’s transport network but also open doors for careers and power local businesses.
He emphasized that the Ksh 170 billion investment showcased the fruits of shifting from government-only delivery to smarter, collaborative partnerships with the private sector.
The President noted that the Nairobi–Nakuru–Mau Summit corridor will undergo a major upgrade, complete with new interchanges, truck lay-bys, pedestrian bridges, lighting, barriers, drainage systems, and intelligent transport technologies.
