Heavy Rain Expected in Most Parts of Kenya Starting on This Date as Kenya Met Issues Warning

The Kenya Meteorological Department has issued a weather alert indicating that several regions across the country are expected to experience heavy rainfall over the coming weekend.

This development comes as a result of prevailing weather systems influencing the local climate, which could lead to significant downpours and potential disruptions.

According to the latest update from the Kenya Met, parts of western Kenya, including counties such as Kakamega, Bungoma, and Busia, are forecasted to receive intense rainfall.

Additionally, central highland areas like Murang’a and Nyeri, as well as parts of the Rift Valley including Nakuru and Kericho, are also on the list of regions likely to be impacted.

The heavy rains are expected to commence on Friday evening and continue through Sunday, raising concerns about possible flooding, especially in low-lying and flood-prone areas.

The Kenya Meteorological Department has advised residents in these regions to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to safeguard lives and property.

Travelers are also urged to exercise caution, as road conditions may deteriorate due to waterlogging and reduced visibility.

This weather pattern is attributed to the interaction between the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) and moist air masses coming from the Indian Ocean, which combine to create unstable atmospheric conditions conducive to heavy rainfall.

Residents are encouraged to stay updated through official channels and avoid any unnecessary travel during peak rainfall periods.

The Kenya Met continues to monitor the situation closely and will provide updates as necessary.

Kenya Meteorological Department warns of heavy rainfall expected across western Kenya, central highlands, and parts of the Rift Valley from Friday through Sunday.

Stay safe by taking necessary precautions and monitoring updates. Avoid unnecessary travel where possible.
