Miguna Miguna Breaks Silence with a Bold Message Amid ODM’s Remarks on Raila Junior’s Installation

According to available news sources, lawyer Miguna Miguna has questioned the decision by the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party to comment on the recent installation of Raila Odinga Junior as the head of his late father’s family. Miguna took to social media to express his confusion over why the party was involved in what he described as a strictly private family affair.

His remarks came after the ODM Party shared a statement on its official X (formerly Twitter) account quoting Acting Party Leader Dr. Oburu Oginga. In the post, Dr. Oginga said that the installation of Raila Junior as the leader of the family of the late Raila Odinga allows him to take part in meetings of the larger Jaramogi Oginga Odinga family, which Dr. Oginga chairs.

Miguna responded sharply to the ODM Party’s post, asking how such a private family matter had any connection to the political party. His question sparked reactions online, with many Kenyans sharing mixed opinions.

Some agreed with him, saying that the installation ceremony was a traditional family event that should not have involved the political party’s communication platforms.

Others argued that the Odinga family has always played a central role in ODM’s leadership, and therefore the event naturally drew political attention.

Observers noted that the ceremony, which took place in Bondo, Siaya County, was a traditional Luo ritual meant to hand over family leadership responsibilities to Raila Junior following the death of his father.

The event drew the attention of both political and cultural leaders, highlighting the deep connection between the Odinga family and Kenya’s political landscape.

Miguna’s statement has once again brought attention to his long-standing criticism of ODM and its leadership. He has often accused the party of mixing personal and political matters, something he believes weakens its credibility. The debate continues online, as Kenyans discuss whether ODM’s post was appropriate or an overstep into family affairs.
