“Father, Hero, Baba Forever”: Raila Odinga’s X Account Now Managed by RAO Foundation

The late former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga’s social media accounts have officially been placed under the management of the RAO Foundation, an organization established to preserve his political legacy and promote his lifelong values of democracy and peace.

The foundation made the changes public on Thursday, October 30, after updating Raila’s X (formerly Twitter) bio to reflect the new management. The page, which commands almost five million followers, now reads:
“This page is managed by The RAO Foundation in honour of the legacy of the Right Honourable Raila Amolo Odinga, CGH. Father, Prime Minister, Enigma, Hero, Baba. 1945–2025.”

The update signifies a major step in ensuring that the memory and influence of one of Kenya’s most iconic opposition figures continue to live on through his digital platforms.

According to sources close to the foundation, Raila’s verified social media pages — including X and Facebook, which has over 2.3 million followers — will now share memorable clips of his speeches, rallies, and peace initiatives. The pages will also promote human rights and national unity, values that defined the ODM leader’s decades in politics.

The last activity on Raila’s X account was a retweet from his son, Raila Odinga Junior, showing footage of his installation as the new head of the Odinga family.

On Facebook, his final post came earlier in October, featuring a meeting with the management of Gor Mahia Football Club, a team he passionately supported.

Raila Odinga passed away on October 15, 2025, after suffering cardiac arrest, leaving behind a political vacuum that reshaped Kenya’s opposition landscape.

His death prompted deep mourning across the nation, with leaders and citizens describing him as a statesman who fought for democracy, equality, and freedom.

Following his passing, the ODM Party’s Central Management Committee endorsed Dr. Oburu Odinga, Raila’s elder brother, as the new interim party leader.

The committee also agreed to uphold the broad-based cooperation agreement Raila had signed with President William Ruto earlier in the year, ensuring continued partnership until 2027.
