New details have come out about Rose Mbithe Mulwa, the woman arrested in connection with the murder of veteran clinical psychologist Dr. Victoria Nthunya Mutiso.
According to court proceedings, Rose Mulwa through her lawyers told the court she was planning to go for the presidential seat in 2027 and that her untimely arrest over the murder of Dr Mutiso was politically influenced.
Rose Mulwa’s lawyers led by veteran Danstan Omari and Cliff Ombeta further told Principal Magistrate Geoffrey Onsaringo about their client's previous attempt in politics.
As per their revelation in the 2022 election, Rose Mulwa ran for Machakos Governor seat as an independent candidate even though she did not win the race after finishing 5th.
They told the court that the winner in that tight race is the current Governor, Her Excellency Wavinya Ndeti, who got a total of 226,609 votes while Rose Mulwa received 4,424 votes.
Because of this, the defence team asked the court to release Rose and her son Chris Mulwa on bond while investigations continue.
