Tears as KDF Officer and Kahawa Queens FC Player Lilian Kirito Kabengi Is Laid to Rest While Family Awaits Answers Over Her Mysterious Death

Family, friends, and military colleagues gathered in Mutaara Village, Tiganía East, to bid a final farewell to Lilian Kirito Kabengi, a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officer. 

Lilian Kabengi, who was attached to Kahawa Barracks & played football for Kahawa Queens FC, died on June 19, 2026, from severe injuries sustained after falling from the 5th floor of an apartment building in Zimmerman, Nairobi, on the night of June 11, 2026.

She had been fighting for her life in the Intensive Care Unit at Nairobi Regional Hospital (Kahawa Barracks Hospital) before passing away at the Forces Memorial Hospital. 

According to reports, she had been having drinks and food at a friend’s place that evening when the incident occurred. It is still unclear whether she jumped, fell accidentally, or was pushed. 

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and Kasarani Police Station are investigating the matter, but no official findings have been released so far. 

Her father vowed, that her daughter Lilian must get justice. Kabengi is survived by her young daughter, Yvette, who was the center of her world. 

Her sudden death has left a deep void in the lives of her family, her military unit, and her teammates at Kahawa Queens FC, where she was admired for her dedication both on and off the pitch. May her soul rest in peace.
