Nairobi Senator and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General Edwin Sifuna has reaffirmed that he has no intention of joining the administration of President William Ruto, dismissing speculation surrounding possible political realignments ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Speaking during a public engagement, Sifuna said his political position remains unchanged and that he is committed to remaining in the opposition.
He maintained that the mandate given to him by voters is to defend their interests, hold the government accountable, and represent the people of Nairobi rather than seek a role in the Kenya Kwanza administration.
His remarks came shortly after Saboti MP Caleb Amisi publicly urged him to remain steadfast and avoid forming any political alliance with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Sifuna's latest declaration is expected to intensify political discussions as leaders continue positioning themselves for the next election.
In recent months, several politicians have encouraged him to align with different political camps, but he has consistently rejected such suggestions, insisting that his priority is serving Nairobi residents and providing effective oversight of the government.
Political observers believe Sifuna's firm stance reinforces his reputation as one of Kenya's most vocal opposition figures.
With political alliances continuing to evolve, his remarks send a clear message that he intends to remain loyal to the opposition despite increasing pressure and speculation over possible defections.
