Panic on Thika Road as Fresh Details Reveal How Goons Brought Traffic to a Standstill

Fresh details have emerged after suspected goons blocked sections of Thika Road, causing panic among motorists and disrupting traffic for hours.

The incident occurred near the Pangani area, where a group of youths reportedly barricaded the road, forcing vehicles to stop. The unexpected blockade created a massive traffic jam as frightened motorists found themselves trapped with no immediate way to leave the area.

According to eyewitnesses, some of the suspects moved from one vehicle to another, intimidating drivers and passengers before stealing cash, mobile phones, and other valuables.

Several motorists said they remained inside their vehicles, fearing that any attempt to escape could put their lives at greater risk.

The disruption affected hundreds of commuters travelling into and out of Nairobi. Public service vehicles, private cars, and commercial trucks were caught in the gridlock, leaving many passengers stranded as transport along the busy highway slowed to a halt.

Videos shared on social media showed the tense atmosphere as frightened motorists watched from inside their vehicles while the suspects occupied parts of the road.

The footage sparked widespread concern, with many Kenyans questioning how criminals managed to disrupt traffic on one of the country's busiest highways.

Police officers were later deployed to the scene and managed to disperse the group, allowing traffic to resume. Security agencies have since launched investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and identify those responsible.

Authorities have appealed to members of the public with information that could assist the investigation to report it through the appropriate security channels.

They also urged motorists to remain vigilant and avoid actions that could expose them to unnecessary danger during similar situations.

The incident has renewed concerns about security on major roads, especially during periods of public unrest. Road users have called for increased police patrols and faster emergency response to prevent criminals from taking advantage of traffic disruptions.

Security experts argue that better surveillance, rapid deployment of officers, and stronger coordination among law enforcement agencies could help reduce such incidents.

They have also emphasized the importance of prosecuting those involved to discourage similar acts in the future.

Although normal traffic has been restored, the incident left many commuters shaken. For those caught in the chaos, it was a frightening reminder of how quickly a routine journey can turn into a dangerous experience.

Investigations are continuing as authorities work to identify the suspects and determine whether they were acting as an organized group.

Motorists have been encouraged to remain alert and immediately report any suspicious activity on the roads to help improve public safety.
