Speaking during an interview with Western Kenya media stations on Friday, Sifuna said speculation surrounding the party's leadership was expected but maintained that decisions on key positions would only be made after members engage in a consultative process.
"There is a Swahili saying that everyone pulls the drum towards themselves. I can also go on a podcast and say so-and-so will be the party leader or secretary-general, but that does not make it true. We will sit down and agree," Sifuna said.
The senator stressed that the planned political outfit would be guided by democratic values, arguing that its leaders would be chosen through consensus rather than unilateral declarations.
"When the right time comes, we will sit down and agree on who takes which position because this will be a democratic party. It will not be a dictatorial party," he added.
Sifuna's remarks come days after Embakasi East MP Babu Owino publicly outlined what he described as the proposed leadership structure of the new party.
