The Linda Mwananchi Movement has continued to attract political attention since its formation by leaders opposed to the Broad-based Government.

Although the movement has not yet unveiled a political party, its growing activities have fueled speculation that it could field candidates in several elective positions ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Political observers believe a number of gubernatorial races could become key tests of the movement's popularity if it eventually sponsors candidates. Among the counties frequently mentioned are Nairobi, Siaya, Murang'a, and Vihiga.

1. Nairobi

The Nairobi gubernatorial race is expected to attract significant attention, with names such as incumbent Governor Johnson Sakaja, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, Embakasi North MP James Gakuya, and businesswoman Agnes Kagure featuring prominently in political discussions.

Babu Owino has recently appeared alongside Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, and former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i during several political engagements. Supporters believe endorsements from influential opposition leaders could strengthen his chances if he eventually joins the race.

2. Siaya

Siaya Governor James Orengo is widely expected to seek another term if he secures his party's nomination. As one of the region's most experienced politicians, Orengo continues to enjoy considerable influence within Siaya County and the wider Nyanza region.

Political observers believe support from prominent opposition figures, including Babu Owino, could further strengthen his campaign should the Linda Mwananchi Movement become part of a broader opposition coalition.

3. Murang'a

Murang'a Governor Irungu Kang'ata has recently become a subject of political discussion following reports linking him to the Linda Mwananchi Movement. If the movement collaborates with the United Opposition, analysts believe the county could become one of the most competitive battlegrounds in the Mt. Kenya region.

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua's influence is also expected to play a significant role in determining political alliances in the county as parties prepare for the next elections.
