Speaking during a public gathering, Atwoli declared that the Luhya voting bloc has already made its decision, downplaying recent rallies led by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna in Trans Nzoia and Bungoma.
He claimed that the entire region has agreed to back President Ruto's reelection. “Hii Western yote hakuna mgawanyiko, 100% tuko nyuma ya William Ruto,” Atwoli stated.
His remarks come as Sifuna continues to ramp up political activity in the region, signaling his intention to vie for the presidency under the Linda Mwananchi banner.
The contest for the influential Luhya vote is heating up, with both opposition and government factions making aggressive moves to secure support.
While the Linda Mwananchi team claims to be gaining traction at the grassroots, Kenya Kwanza allies have intensified their campaigns to consolidate the region for Ruto’s re-election bid.
A pro-government camp led by Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka has rolled out a series of grassroots mobilization meetings across Western Kenya.
At the same time, another faction aligned with National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula is organizing fundraisers aimed at strengthening support for the President’s second term.
With Sifuna’s rallies drawing attention and government allies countering with parallel campaigns, Western Kenya is emerging as a key battleground in the run-up to 2027.
