"Where is the Problem if I Support Sifuna?" Gachagua Woos Western as He Calls for Ruto's Ouster

Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua has intensified his charm offensive in the Western region, signaling his readiness to back a presidential candidate from the area ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Speaking during his political tour in Kakamega, Gachagua emphasized that the Western community is not an enemy and deserves full political support if it produces a strong contender for the top seat.

“Where is the problem if I you?” he posed, in reference to Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, who has been fronted by some leaders in the region as a potential presidential candidate.

Gachagua reminded locals that his political camp supported President William Ruto in the 2022 elections despite past grievances.

“Kasongo tulimuunga mkono na alikuwa ameua watu wetu. Kama tulisamehea muuaji tukampa kura na nyingi, hamjatukosea; tukiamua kuwaunga mkono iko shida?” he said.

In a significant political declaration, Gachagua vowed to rally behind a single opposition candidate to challenge President Ruto, insisting that unity will be key to defeating the Kenya Kwanza administration.

He also endorsed his party deputy leader Cleophas Malala for the Kakamega gubernatorial seat.
