“Umeenda Sana” Kenyans Fire Back at Gachagua After His Recent Remarks

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has sparked controversy after linking a proposed Ebola quarantine facility in Laikipia County to what he described as a political plot against communities in the Mt Kenya region.

Speaking during a consultative meeting with Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) aspirants from Meru County, Gachagua strongly opposed the planned health facility, claiming it posed a threat to residents in the region. He urged locals to reject the project entirely, arguing that it was not in their best interest.

Gachagua alleged that the facility, which he said was connected to a cooperation arrangement between the Kenyan government and the United States, could be part of a wider agenda targeting Mt Kenya communities.

He claimed the project was being introduced without adequate consultation and accused senior government officials of ignoring public concerns.

He also raised fears about the Ebola virus, referring to its high fatality rate and the absence of a fully approved vaccine for some strains. He warned residents to be cautious, insisting that the risks had not been fully addressed.
