Former Cabinet Secretary and presidential adviser Moses Kuria has taken a fresh swipe at former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua following his decision to suspend public political rallies for 45 days.
Gachagua recently announced that he would take a temporary break from mass political engagements after the High Court upheld his impeachment.
Although the court ruled that his right to a fair hearing had been violated during the Senate proceedings and awarded him KSh50 million in damages, it maintained that the impeachment process was valid.
Despite the setback, Gachagua insisted that he remains active in politics and will use the 45-day period to consult legal advisers, political allies, and opposition leaders as he plans for the 2027 General Election.
In a social media post that quickly sparked debate online, Kuria sarcastically questioned Gachagua’s approach to politics.
“I think scientists are wasting a unique opportunity to study a rare human brain,” Kuria wrote.
He argued that politicians typically formulate a strategy before embarking on political mobilization.
According to Kuria, Gachagua appears to have reversed the process by spending years rallying supporters before stepping back to develop a political plan.
The remarks add to the growing rivalry between the two leaders, who have exchanged criticism in recent months. Kuria has previously challenged Gachagua to a live television debate and dismissed several of his political positions.
Meanwhile, Gachagua has maintained that his temporary withdrawal from rallies is aimed at strengthening opposition unity and preparing for future political battles.
He has also instructed his legal team to challenge the High Court judgment at the Court of Appeal.
As political realignments ahead of 2027 continue to take shape, Kuria’s latest comments highlight the divisions emerging within Kenya’s opposition and Mount Kenya political landscape.
The coming weeks are expected to reveal whether Gachagua’s consultations will strengthen his influence or provide further opportunities for critics to question his strategy.
