RIP: The Last Painful Call a Married Woman Made to a Friend Before She Was Murdered by Her Husband

The tragic death of Christina Kanini has taken a heartbreaking turn after her close friend revealed details of what she described as their final conversation, claiming the deceased had expressed fear and hinted that she was living in danger.

Kanini is alleged to have been killed by her husband, Lukas Muthusi, during a domestic dispute at their home in Kamweli Village, Makutano, Kirinyaga County, on Saturday, June 27. Muthusi reportedly died shortly after the incident.

Police have launched investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the deaths.

Speaking after the tragedy, Kanini's close friend, Sketah Andrew, said they had spoken only a few days before the incident.

She also reminded her friend that important personal documents, including her national identity card, were still in her possession and planned to collect them during their meeting.

Sketah further alleged that Kanini had endured a long period of domestic abuse.

She claimed the deceased had previously shared photographs showing injuries and audio recordings that allegedly captured incidents of physical assault.

She also recalled that Kanini had once sought refuge in her home for about three weeks after allegedly fleeing the abusive relationship.

According to Sketah, Kanini stayed quietly to avoid being noticed and left her original identification documents with her for safekeeping, where they reportedly remain.

The friend's account has intensified public concern over the circumstances leading to Kanini's death, with many Kenyans calling for justice and greater action against gender-based violence.

Investigators are continuing to gather evidence to determine what happened before the fatal incident.

The bodies of Kanini and Muthusi were moved to Kerugoya Mortuary as detectives work to establish the full sequence of events.

The incident has sparked an outpouring of grief online, with family members, friends, and members of the public mourning Kanini while urging authorities to ensure a thorough investigation.
