According to reports, the unnamed MP had initially shown interest in joining President William Ruto’s party as political realignments ahead of the 2027 General Election continue to intensify.

However, fresh developments suggest the legislator may now be slowing down the planned move following mounting pressure from ODM supporters who reportedly warned against abandoning the opposition party.

The situation reflects growing tensions within opposition ranks as several leaders from Western Kenya and other regions continue to be linked to possible defections toward the ruling coalition.

Political analysts say many lawmakers are increasingly finding themselves caught between aligning with the national government for political survival and maintaining loyalty to their traditional support bases.

Sources indicate that some ODM supporters have expressed concern over what they describe as increasing closeness between certain opposition lawmakers and the Kenya Kwanza administration.
