MP Shares How Uhuru And Gachagua Allegedly Plan To Use Sifuna Ahead Of 2027 Polls

Political temperatures are beginning to rise ahead of the 2027 General Election, with fresh claims emerging over the growing relationship between Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

A Kenya Kwanza lawmaker has now alleged that Sifuna could be walking into a political trap carefully planned by Gachagua and former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Speaking during a church fundraiser in Kakamega County, Shinyalu MP Fred Ikana claimed that Gachagua and Uhuru were positioning Sifuna to help weaken President William Ruto's influence in Western Kenya.

According to the MP, the opposition figures are using the Nairobi senator to attract support from the region as they prepare for the next presidential contest.

Ikana warned Sifuna to be cautious, arguing that the alliance would not benefit his political future.

He urged the ODM secretary general to reconsider his political direction and instead work with President Ruto, insisting that the current administration has continued to roll out key development projects in Kakamega and other parts of the country.

The remarks come after Sifuna publicly stated on several occasions that he is willing to work with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua if that is what it takes to remove President Ruto from power in 2027.

His position has sparked debate within the opposition and among political observers over the shape of future alliances.

With political realignments already taking shape more than a year before campaigns officially begin, questions continue to emerge over who stands to gain the most.

The real question now is whether Sifuna's cooperation with Gachagua will strengthen the opposition or play into a larger political strategy that only time will reveal.
