Lang'ata MP Felix Odiwuor, popularly known as Jalang'o, was forced to intervene after DJ Pinto Cahill claimed that the ODM faction led by Oburu Oginga had failed to pay him for performances at several political rallies.
This comes after Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna threatened to snap up the young DJ for his Linda Mwananchi movement if he is not paid within a week.
Taking to social media on Wednesday, June 10, Jalang'o revealed that he had personally spoken to DJ Pinto Cahill and even shared an audio recording of their conversation.
While acknowledging the DJ's concerns, the Lang'ata MP maintained that the entertainer had performed at the rallies without any formal agreement or contract.
According to Jalang'o, the matter should serve as a lesson to artists and service providers about the importance of professional arrangements before offering services.
The Lang'ata MP noted that DJs, entertainers and other professionals should always ensure there is a clear agreement outlining the scope of work and payment terms before committing themselves to any engagement.
Despite his reservations about the absence of a formal agreement, Jalang'o said he would ensure that the DJ receives the money he had requested.
The claims quickly attracted attention online, with the DJ alleging that efforts to reach Jalang'o had gone unanswered.
Before Jalang'o's response, DJ Pinto Cahill had taken to social media to publicly express frustration, accusing organizers linked to the Oburu-led faction of ODM of refusing to render payment for services he said he had provided during a series of campaign events.
DJ Pinto accused Jalang'o of ignoring his calls while payment remained outstanding.
The entertainer said he had family responsibilities, including school fees for his siblings and other personal bills.
He also claimed that his laptop was damaged after being exposed to the sun during one of the rallies, affecting his ability to work.
