Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has once again found himself in the middle of controversy after his latest remarks during a Gikuyu cultural event.
His statements, which appeared to look down upon certain elected leaders from the Mt Kenya region, have drawn sharp criticism from political analysts and members of the public.
During the event, Gachagua claimed that the Mt Kenya community did not elect enough competent leaders in the 2022 elections.
He went on to compare them with other regions, saying that while areas supporting Raila Odinga chose highly educated leaders such as Babu Owino, Otiende Amollo, and Millie Odhiambo, Mt Kenya voters settled for what he called “nobodies” like Kawanjiku and Wamatinga.
His words did not sit well with many, including political analyst Javas Bigambo, who strongly condemned the remarks.
Bigambo said Gachagua’s comments reveal a dangerous mindset of dictatorship and arrogance.
