Gachagua Finally Announces Date of When United Opposition Will Front Their Presidential Candidate

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has announced that the United Opposition will unveil a single presidential candidate within the next 45 days as preparations for the 2027 General Election gather momentum.

Gachagua said opposition leaders have intensified consultations aimed at presenting a united front against President William Ruto.

He noted that the coalition brings together several prominent political figures, including former Interior CS Fred Matiang’i, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, DAP-K leader Eugene Wamalwa, and other opposition politicians.

According to the former Deputy President, the alliance is focused on avoiding divisions that could weaken its chances in the next election. He argued that a united opposition ticket would provide Kenyans with a strong alternative leadership option.

Gachagua expressed confidence that the coalition will agree on one flag bearer through consultations and consensus.

He maintained that the opposition remains committed to working together despite the ambitions of individual leaders, adding that the announcement of a presidential candidate will mark a significant step in its strategy to challenge President Ruto in 2027.
