Forget about Sifuna, Gachagua, and Kalonzo: Here Is Another Presidential Headache for Ruto

Former Chief Justice David Maraga has announced that he will be seeking the presidency in the 2027 General Election, saying he has taken time to listen to the concerns of Kenyans from different parts of the country.

In his statement, Maraga noted that many citizens have been urging him to step forward and offer leadership that is grounded in integrity, constitutionalism, and accountability.

The former head of the Judiciary, who served between 2016 and 2021, said his decision comes after continued engagement with ordinary Kenyans who feel burdened by economic challenges, unemployment, and what they describe as weak governance structures.

He added that the voices of citizens can no longer be ignored, and that Kenya needs leadership that prioritizes justice, fairness, and respect for the rule of law.
