Arrested Goon for Hire Reveals Top Government Official Who Hired Them

Chaos erupted at All Saints Cathedral in Nairobi on Friday after suspected goons disrupted a public participation forum organized to examine Kenya’s 2026/2027 national budget.

The meeting, hosted by the Kenya Human Rights Commission and other civil society organizations, aimed to evaluate whether the budget reflected the priorities of citizens.

Witnesses reported that the attackers attempted to steal phones from participants, causing fear and confusion inside the venue.

Police officers responded to the incident by firing warning shots into the air before arresting at least one suspect.

The controversy deepened after a video circulated online showing the detained suspect allegedly claiming that Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi had sent them to disrupt the meeting.

In the recording shared by KHRC, the suspect reportedly stated that they were acting on instructions from “the person who read the budget yesterday.”

Following the incident, KHRC released a statement directly linking Mbadi to the disruption and demanding accountability.

The organization also reported that some valuables were stolen during the chaos. Meanwhile, there was no immediate response from the Treasury CS regarding the accusations.
