“After Gachagua’s Silence Ends, Kalonzo Could Be Our Man,” Ngunjiri Wambugu Hints at Opposition’s 2027 Plan

Former Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu has sparked political debate after suggesting that opposition leaders may already be coalescing around a preferred presidential candidate ahead of the 2027 General Election.

In remarks shared on social media, Wambugu hinted that consultations involving former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua could ultimately lead to the endorsement of Kalonzo Musyoka as the opposition's presidential flag bearer.

According to Wambugu, political developments expected after what he described as Gachagua's "45-day hibernation" following recent court proceedings could culminate in a major announcement regarding the opposition's preferred candidate.

He suggested that Kalonzo could emerge as the consensus choice, with other opposition leaders rallying behind a united ticket in a bid to strengthen their chances against President William Ruto in the next election.
