Gachagua Alleges What Ruto Is Doing To Win Back Public Trust After Realising Mt Kenya Has Dumped Him

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has launched a fresh attack on President William Ruto, warning residents of the Mt Kenya region to be cautious of what he called “political tricks” aimed at winning back their trust.

Speaking today, Gachagua accused the Head of State of using money as a tool to manipulate ordinary citizens.

According to him, Ruto has been moving across the country dishing out cash to locals in an attempt to repair his image, especially in regions where his popularity is fading.

“The President will bring a lot of money here. We cannot bury an elephant with its tusks. Take the money, but do not repay him with your votes,” Gachagua told the gathering, drawing cheers from the crowd.

The Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader claimed that the Mt Kenya community has already lost faith in Ruto, accusing him of betraying them soon after taking office.

He pointed to the dismissal of former Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi as a sign that the President had no genuine commitment to the region.

Gachagua vowed to work closely with other opposition leaders to ensure Ruto becomes a one-term president.

He insisted that the people of Mt Kenya should not allow handouts to blind them from the reality of poor leadership and unfulfilled promises.

“I will stand with you and with all Kenyans who want real change. Let us send a clear message in 2027 that Mt Kenya cannot be bought with coins,” he declared.

Supporters allied to Gachagua echoed his sentiments, accusing Ruto’s administration of desperation. They also linked the recent chaos that marred Gachagua’s return from the United States to state-sponsored efforts to intimidate him.

Several youths and journalists were injured during the clashes on Mombasa Road as his convoy made its way from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

Despite the violence, Gachagua’s arrival was marked by a massive show of support, with crowds lining the streets to welcome him back.

His allies argued that the large turnout proved he still enjoys significant influence in Mt Kenya, a region that remains politically crucial for 2027.
