A publication by the People Daily media group on Monday 1, December 2025 has indicated that the Head of State His Excellency President William Ruto is set to crack the whip by demoting Members of Parliament (MPs) who campaigned against government aligned candidates in the just concluded by-elections.
As per the source, President Ruto is set to take stern action against the lawmakers in February 2026, when parliamentary sessions resume after the long break.
In regards to the matter, it has been indicated Member of Parliament representing Kitutu Chache South constituency in the National Assembly Hon Antony Kibagendi is set to be axed from chairing Public Investment Committee (PIC) on Education and governance while his counterpart for Kitutu Masaba MP Clive Gesairo is set to be removed from National Assembly Education Committee.
The source further pinpointed that Nyali Member of Parliament Hon Mohamed Ali who spearheaded campaigns in Magarini and Nyamira county Senator Okong'o Omogeni who campaigned against government aligned candidate in Nyamira are also set to face President Ruto's chopping board, as a disciplinary measure for their moves.
Additionally, Kakamega county Senator Hon Boni Khalwale who championed the "Tawe" movement in Malava constituency will also not be spared for his move to campaign against UDA's David Ndakwa, who went to win the Malava constituency by-election polls.
As per the report, the move will help serve as a warning shot to all the "mischievous MPs" in government, and will help to install discipline ahead of the fast approaching 2027 general elections.
