Last minute push for by-election has intensified in Magarini after Nyali MP Mohamed Ali (Jicho Pevu) openly broke ranks with his UDA party to endorse DCP candidate Stanley Kenga in the upcoming by-election.
Speaking during a town hall meeting with residents, Mohamed Ali urged locals to rally behind Kenga, dismissing the UDA and government-backed ODM candidate Harrison Kombe.
Ali accused President William Ruto’s administration of “rampant corruption,” signalling an escalating fallout between him and key figures in the ruling coalition.
His bold move comes as ODM leaders intensify their final campaign push in Magarini. The coastal political battlefield has drawn heavyweights determined to sway undecided voters ahead of the crucial poll.
Mombasa Governor and ODM Deputy Party Leader Abdulswamad Nassir, CS Hassan Joho and Speaker Amason Kingi have been leading high-level engagements in Kilifi County.
Addressing ODM officials during a town hall meeting in Mambrui, Governor Nassir called for unity and discipline within the party, urging leaders to shelve internal wrangles and focus on delivering victory.
He stressed that with ODM fielding candidates across multiple regions, cohesion is critical to securing wins and countering rival formations.
