Nyali Member of Parliament Mohammed Ali, widely known as Jicho Pevu, has openly challenged Mining Cabinet Secretary Ali Hassan Joho to a political showdown.
The outspoken legislator made the bold declaration on Monday, November 24, 2025, while joining the official opposition team on the campaign trail in Magarini, Kilifi County.
Ali was part of the delegation accompanying Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka as they campaigned for Stanley Kenga, the opposition candidate in the upcoming Magarini by-election.
While addressing residents, the former investigative journalist did not hold back as he criticised the former Mombasa governor for what he described as unnecessary attacks on national leaders.
Ali told the crowd that he had heard Joho insulting both Kalonzo Musyoka and former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
He warned Joho against what he termed as disrespectful politics, adding that if Joho wanted a political confrontation, he should face him directly instead of targeting other leaders.
Ali insisted that he was ready to stand up to Joho and defend leaders he believes are committed to improving the country.
The Nyali MP also spoke about recent claims suggesting he had cut a deal to support Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir’s reelection.
Ali dismissed those rumours, saying he had no intention of joining alliances that did not align with his values or the needs of the people he represents.
He explained that his priority was pushing for better governance and ensuring that Coast residents are heard at the national level.
