Merishaw School Principal on the Run After Being Caught Projecting Exam Answers to Candidates

Authorities in Kajiado County are searching for Mr. Kariuki, the principal of Merishaw School, after he reportedly fled the institution following allegations of exam malpractice during the ongoing Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations.

According to preliminary reports, the principal was allegedly caught projecting exam answers on a large TV screen inside the examination centre to assist candidates. Upon discovery, Mr. Kariuki reportedly fled the school compound before police officers could apprehend him.

Confirming the incident, education officials stated that the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) had immediately taken disciplinary action.

Mr. Kariuki was relieved of his duties as centre manager, and his deputy principal has since been appointed to oversee the ongoing examinations.

“The principal was found engaging in activities that go against the integrity and regulations of the national examinations. The Teachers Service Commission has taken swift action to ensure the exams continue smoothly,” said a source familiar with the matter.

Police officers in Kajiado have launched an active manhunt for the principal, who remains at large.

Investigations are underway to determine the extent of the malpractice and whether other school officials were involved.

The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has reiterated its zero-tolerance policy toward cheating, emphasizing that any individuals found compromising the credibility of national exams will face severe disciplinary and legal consequences.

The swift replacement of the centre manager aims to maintain order and integrity as the KCSE examinations continue.

Education officials have assured the public that the situation is under control and that all necessary measures are in place to protect the credibility of the national exams.
