"You'll Be Impeached" Vocal Senator Predicts What Awaits Ruto If ODM Withdraw From Broad-based Govt

Homa Bay Senator Moses Kajwang has warned that President William Ruto’s administration could be in danger if the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) withdraws its support.

He noted that ODM’s partnership has been essential in keeping the government steady since the death of Raila Odinga, who had urged unity and political calm across the nation.

Kajwang explained that ODM’s strength in both the Senate and the National Assembly plays a vital role in shielding the president from impeachment.

He mentioned that without ODM’s backing, Ruto might face the same fate as former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua, who was removed from office in 2024.

The senator said ODM’s cooperation with Ruto’s administration follows Raila’s belief that political instability caused by unnecessary power struggles would harm the country.

He added that the party’s support is meant to help promote peace and ensure development reaches areas that have long been neglected, particularly in agriculture, infrastructure, and the blue economy.

Kajwang made it clear that ODM’s involvement in government is not about seeking senior positions but about focusing on progress that benefits citizens.

He said the party will review its alliance before the 2027 general election to decide its next move based on performance and benefits delivered.

Responding to reports of internal disagreements, Kajwang defended vocal party members like Babu Owino and Edwin Sifuna, saying their diverse opinions strengthen ODM’s democratic values. He added that criticism within the party should be seen as a sign of growth, not division.

Kajwang concluded that ODM will continue to support the government until 2027 to maintain national stability and remain politically relevant. However, he reminded leaders that backing the government does not mean ignoring wrongdoing, as accountability remains a core duty of responsible leadership.
