"Akinyi! Akinyi!" Police Who Shouted Girlfriend's Name During Steamy Session at night With Her Beaten By Residents

Sergeant Sammy Maritim faced the wrath of local residents after causing a disturbance in the early hours of June 7 in a bizarre incident at Kibingong trading centre, Nandi County.

Maritim, the officer in charge of Kapsigilai Patrol Base, went to the trading centre at around 1:45 AM, reportedly looking for his girlfriend, Akinyi, whom he lives with but had not come home.

The officer started calling out Akinyi’s name loudly, disturbing the peace of the night. This behavior irritated the residents, leading to a confrontation.

Annoyed by the commotion, the residents gathered and attacked Sergeant Maritim, who was left with serious injuries. The beating inflicted blunt force trauma to his head, leaving him unconscious and bleeding.

Responding to the disturbance, other officers arrived at the scene and found Maritim in a critical state. They immediately transported him to Chepsese dispensary for initial treatment.

Due to the severity of his injuries, he was later transferred to Nandi Hills Sub-County Hospital, where he is now admitted in a stable condition.

The police have begun an investigation into the incident, with a report filed at Potopoto Police Station detailing the events that led to the assault.

The report confirms that Maritim's actions at the trading centre were the catalyst for the residents' violent response.

As Sergeant Maritim recovers, local authorities are working to understand the full context of the incident and ensure such disturbances do not recur.
