Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Professor Mutua cautioned DP Gachagua with the statement, saying Rigathi should trend carefully and avoid a confrontation with his boss Ruto.
According to Raila's former campaign spokesperson, Rigathi will lose big if he fights Ruto. He warned him saying Ruto is not like Gachagua's former boss and former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Mutua termed Ruto as a political strategist who is former late President Moi's student adding that Gachagua will end up losing all.
"DP @rigathi will fight President @WilliamsRuto and lose BIG. He should resist the urge to follow in his boss’s footsteps because his boss isn’t Uhuru Kenyatta. Unlike his boss, Mr Gachagua isn’t a master political strategist. As the late President Moi used to say, atajikaanga na mafuta yake!" This Swahili proverb translates to "he will fry in his own fat," implying that Gachagua would suffer the consequences of his actions.
Professor Mutua's remarks come amid swirling rumors of a rift between the President and his Deputy, a scenario reminiscent of the strained relationship between former President Uhuru Kenyatta and his then Deputy, now President, William Ruto.
Mutua’s post suggests that Gachagua lacks the political acumen and strategic prowess that enabled Ruto to navigate the complex dynamics of Kenyan politics successfully.
This comes just a day after Gachagua was accused of trying to blackmail President William Ruto. On his part, Rigathi has maintained that he will advocate for the interests of Mt Kenya region and that no leader from the region regardless of their political affiliations will be mistreated.
