"Blood Of Injured Police Officer Is On You" CS Mutua Tells Off Protestors, Donates Ksh.1M Towards Cop Who Injured His Hand

Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua has spoken out strongly against the recent protests in Kenya, where a police officer, Chief Inspector David Karuri Maina, lost both of his arms. 

The officer was injured while trying to control demonstrators during the 'Occupy Parliament' protests against the Finance Bill of 2024.

Speaking in Narok, Mutua expressed his disappointment with the protesters, blaming them for the severe injuries suffered by Inspector Maina. 

He emphasized the impact on Maina's life, describing him as a son, husband, and father whose life has been forever changed.

Mutua condemned the violence that occurred during the protests, urging young people not to be swayed by misleading information that incites them to take part in destructive actions. 

He stressed the importance of understanding the consequences of one's actions and being responsible citizens in Kenya.

As a gesture of support, Mutua announced a donation of Ksh.1 million together with Governor Ntutu to assist Inspector Maina and his family during his recovery. 

This contribution aims to alleviate some of the challenges faced by Maina following the life-altering injuries sustained in the line of duty.

The incident has sparked debates and discussions across the country about the nature of protests and the responsibilities of citizens in ensuring peaceful demonstrations. 

Mutua's remarks underscore a broader concern about the escalation of violence and its impact on both law enforcement officers and protesters alike.

Meanwhile, Inspector Maina is currently undergoing treatment at Nairobi West Hospital, where he is expected to receive ongoing medical care and support.
