In Makueni County, a police officer and two accomplices have been detained by the DCI on suspicion of stealing 522 bags of rice in Kibwezi.
The alleged theft occurred during the early hours of June 5th when the trio intercepted a lorry transporting the rice from Mombasa to Nairobi.
Acting swiftly, they took control of the vehicle in the Thange area, leaving the bewildered driver stranded in Ngwata.
Adding to the complexity of the case, a Probox linked to the theft has also been impounded by authorities. Currently, exhaustive efforts are underway to track down the stolen lorry and recover the pilfered rice.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a police officer stationed in Nakuru finds himself in hot water after being accused of confiscating fish from a female trader in Nairobi without providing any form of compensation.
The aggrieved trader, dismayed by the officer's actions, filed a lawsuit in search of justice. She claims that the officer, without legal authority, seized three sacks of fish from her possession.
Despite reaching out to the officer's colleagues for assistance, her pleas fell on deaf ears, leaving her with no choice but to pursue legal action.
