Reverend Patriciah Benson, speaking to reporters on Thursday, vividly recounted the ordeal that unfolded during what was supposed to be a normal lunch hour service.

The church, located on the first floor of a building in Nakuru town, became the unexpected target of law enforcement. According to Reverend Benson, the tranquility of their prayers was shattered by the sound of gunshots just outside the church premises.

Within moments, a group of police officers entered the church premises, causing confusion and fear among the congregants. "They came in and ordered all of us to lie on the ground," Reverend Benson recounted.

Initially thinking it might be a misunderstanding, the congregation soon realized the severity of the situation as the officers began their search of the church.

The pastor further described how the officers, in their search, attempted to force their way into a room where the church's media team was stationed.

"We started hearing sounds of whips in the air," she said, noting that the officers relented only upon discovering the room's purpose as the church's media center.

Several members of the congregation were reportedly roughed up and subjected to physical force, adding to the chaos and fear that gripped the church that afternoon.

Reverend Benson emphasized that the use of live bullets and physical force within the confines of their place of worship was unjustifiable.

"Why shoot live bullets and beat people in our church?" questioned Bishop Ben, expressing firm condemnation of what he termed as excessive use of force by the police.

As the leader of the Chosen Generation Church, he expressed dismay over the violation of their sacred space and the safety of their members. The incident has sparked widespread condemnation and calls for accountability from various quarters.

Members of the congregation who witnessed the events expressed shock and disbelief at the actions of the police, noting that such incidents undermine the sanctity of places of worship and the rights of worshippers to assemble peacefully.

Local authorities have yet to issue a formal statement regarding the incident, but community leaders and human rights advocates have demanded a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the police raid.

They argue that such actions not only violate the rights of citizens but also erode trust in law enforcement agencies tasked with protecting communities.

In response to the outcry, civil society organizations have called for transparency and accountability in policing practices, emphasizing the need for officers to uphold human rights standards even in challenging situations.

The incident at the Chosen Generation Church serves as a stark reminder of the delicate balance between maintaining public order and respecting fundamental freedoms.

Efforts to reach the Nakuru Police Department for comment on the matter were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.

However, community leaders have vowed to pursue justice for the affected congregation members, pledging support for legal avenues to ensure that those responsible are held accountable for their actions.

Reverend Benson reiterated their resolve to continue providing spiritual guidance and support to their congregation, undeterred by the events of that fateful day.
