"I Think They've Been Instructed" DP Gachagua Worried After Rift Valley MPs Skip His Event Without Apology

Bomet Governor Hillary Barchok disclosed that none of the county's MPs attended the fundraising event at Deliverance Church International, where Gachagua was the guest of honor.

Governor Barchok expressed disappointment, noting that only Linet Chepkorir Toto, the Bomet Woman Representative, apologized for her absence.

He remarked during the event that he did not receive apologies from any other MPs, leaving him puzzled about their absence.

"I am sorry Your Excellency, I only received one apology from Toto, Woman Rep. I don't see my MPs. I don't know whether they have been instructed not to associate with the Deputy President or not," Barchok told the congregation.

The Governor emphasized the importance of unity in the country, urging leaders to embrace diversity of opinion. He mentioned holding discussions with youth prior to the church event, where concerns were raised about the conduct of political leaders.

The youth reportedly called for introspection within the ruling Kenya Kwanza coalition, expressing dissatisfaction with issues beyond the Finance Bill.

They highlighted concerns such as careless remarks, perceived arrogance, and displays of wealth amidst widespread poverty.

The absence of Rift Valley MPs at Gachagua's event could be seen as a reflection of broader political dynamics within the ruling coalition. Governor Barchok's remarks suggested a climate where political alliances and public appearances are carefully scrutinized.

Deputy President Gachagua, despite the absence of Rift Valley MPs, continued to address the gathering, emphasizing the need for constructive dialogue and national unity.
