The soldier reportedly found Reverend Kemei in his home with his wife late at night. Details suggest that the soldier had set a trap, informed that the priest would be visiting his wife that evening.
Following the attack, Reverend Kemei was urgently rushed to Kapsabet Level 5 Hospital. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was later transferred to Top Hill Hospital in Eldoret. Unfortunately, he was declared dead on arrival.

She said, “He was in my parish, and we would do missions together. I'm still in shock.” Another mourner, Grace Cheptoo, wrote, “Rest in peace, Reverend. You were a nice pastor to us. Why this?” Victor Limo, reflecting on his past experiences with Reverend Kemei, added, “R.I.P., my former chaplain.”
Family members are also grieving deeply. Reverend Kemei's cousin, Lyn Tallam, shared a touching message defending him against any criticism related to the circumstances of his death, insisting that he was a good man and should be remembered for the positive impact he had on those around him.
Politician Solomon Limoh recently visited Reverend Kemei's family to offer his condolences. He joined the many who are mourning the loss of a man described as a guiding light in his community.
