CS Ababu Joins Friends And Family In Cathedral To Pay Tribute To reggae DJ Njambi Koikai

Friends, family, and fans gathered at All Saints Cathedral in Nairobi on June 11, 2024, to honor the life of Njambi Koikai, a beloved figure in Kenya's entertainment world. 

Known to many as DJ Njambi or Fyah Mummah, she passed away on June 4 after a long battle with endometriosis, a painful condition she faced with immense bravery. 

Her funeral will be held on June 14 at Lang'ata Cemetery.Njambi Koikai's career spanned over two decades, during which she made a significant mark in Kenya’s reggae scene. 

As a reggae DJ and radio host, she was a dynamic and influential presence, captivating audiences with her vibrant personality and love for reggae music. 

She founded Street Empire Entertainment, a platform that showcased her passion for reggae and helped uplift other artists in the industry. 

Through her work, she became a cherished voice on the airwaves, known for her lively spirit and deep knowledge of reggae.But Njambi was more than just a DJ. 

She was a passionate advocate for social justice and women's health issues. Her own struggle with endometriosis inspired her to use her platform to raise awareness and advocate for better healthcare for women suffering from the condition. 

She openly shared her experiences, helping to break the silence around a topic often considered taboo. Her efforts brought much-needed attention to endometriosis and provided support to countless women facing similar challenges.

At the memorial service, Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy, and Sports, Ababu Namwamba, praised Njambi for her dedication to fairness and equity. 

He described her as a "beacon of hope," noting how she tirelessly fought for justice and used her voice to uplift marginalized communities. 

Namwamba's tribute highlighted Njambi's role not just as an entertainer but also as a committed activist who worked to make a difference in society.

The service was filled with heartfelt tributes from those who knew Njambi. Many recalled her infectious energy and the positive impact she had on their lives.
